![]() “So you’re looking for a distraction?” Tiw raised an eyebrow and Por nodded. So now I have to be here alone.” Por huffed, “And I really don’t have the energy to focus on college right now.” Por sighed and Tiw laughed. I mean chinchillas are our thing, but they all said no. I actually asked them to come with me today! It’d always been a thing that we’d all own a chinchilla together. “My friends are all too busy to hang out as well. ![]() Frankly, Por was also angry that Tinn stole Gun and Por’s summer away from them, but who was he to interfere with romance? “You must be doing something more eventful than I am,” Tiw said and raised an eyebrow. I have nothing else to do!” Tiw threw his hands up in the air. My siblings are out, my parents are working, and Tinn spends every waking hour with Gun. “Why do you need a job? Aren’t you supposed to be preparing for college?” “I don’t understand, Tiw.” What are you doing? Por cleared his throat and changed the subject. Why did he need to look at him like that? “Por, they all like you.” Tiw gazed at him and it almost made Por dizzy. “Does it like me?” He whispered carefully as if any louder volume would shatter the creature. Tiw let the chinchilla crawl into his lap and Por almost died. “Cross your legs,” he directed and Por followed. “It’s just a summer job.” he shrugged then picked up the chinchilla up so he could inspect it. Tiw glanced at him and decided to crouch down next to him. Por watched in awe from his spot where he was crouching on the ground to allow a chinchilla to sniff his shoe. Its ears twitched under his touch and Tiw chuckled softly. He set down the chinchillas he was holding and lightly stroked the fur of one of them. But hey, that’s more space to interact with them.” “We have to let them out at some point in the day, and now is that time. “You kind of came at just the right time.” Por stepped in and was surprised to see three others, in addition to the two Tiw held, bounding around happily. We have a lot more for you to see.” Tiw led Por into another room. That is what I’m here for.” Por smiled and Tiw nodded. ![]() “So,” Tiw shuffled awkwardly, “chinchillas.” He held one up and Por almost melted. But Tiw backed off just as soon as he came. He guessed Tiw didn’t either.Īfter their interaction at Por’s apology dinner by the beach and their impromptu graduation photo-taking session, Por would be lying if he said he didn't expect more. He had his number, of course, but he never dared to actually dial it. Por never talked to Tiw after graduation. “It’s nice to see you!” It was nice to see him. “Tiw!” Por gave him a small and awkward wave. He froze, lips pursed in shock upon seeing Por. He bounced on his heels excitedly.Īnd just as he’d thought, out stepped Tiwson, carrying two chinchillas in each arm. “Good, ‘cause I wasn’t going to anyway.” The worker shrugged and left Por alone. They’ll help you find the right one.” They opened the door and gestured for Por to step in. “Good to know.” They rolled their eyes and led Por over to the familiar area. And then you’ll never have to see me ever again. “Are you actually going to adopt one today?” They slurred their words, obviously bored by Por’s recurring presence, but Por nodded enthusiastically anyway. Had he been coming in almost every day to stare at the chinchillas wistfully? Maybe. Por arrived at the pet store, and the counter worker may or may not have rolled their eyes at him. But he would get his hands on his very own chinchilla. Well, he wouldn’t go through with the pictures part. Pat told him to just go to the pet store and send pictures later. He texted the group chat one last time for confirmation and was greeted with a resounding no from each member. And he would try and call Tinn, but they weren’t at that level of closeness yet. Por’s hopes and dreams of co-parenting a chinchilla with one of his friends were hopeless. He was against the whole idea of having a pet chinchilla in the club, and he was still against it despite not being in the club anymore. He'd called Gun first, who he thought would be the most excited at Por’s offer. ![]() “ Okay.” Por paused before speaking slowly, “Would you, perhaps, go to the pet store with me-” “Then tell me what you were gonna say because I can guarantee the answer will still be the same.” “No,” an irritated Sound said on the other end of the line.
